I always knew that my own kitchen, in my red brick mid century house, wanted to be a bold colour. In fact I think that green laminate came first and all other decisions fell into line! To complement this bold statement I chose a thin white ‘Florian’ porcelain benchtop and painted the walls, woodwork and ceiling in Dulux ‘Rottness Island’, one of those great not quite whites that resembles drying plaster. The striking Kauffman tiles from Germany laid in a studio 64 kind of pattern nod at that 60’s vibe and provide a vivid focal point.
Though the footprint isn’t large, this kitchen is a joy to work in owing to it’s very purposeful layout and clever storage solutions aplenty, but the most important feature is the wrap around window seat - offering a hub for family life, a cosy setting for Friday night drinks and the perfect spot to watch the world go by.
