KERRYN DUNSHEA

I graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Design in 1998 and I’ve worked in architecture and interior design ever since. It’s a field I’ve always loved, part creative problem-solving, part storytelling and nearly 30 years in, I’m still just as curious and inspired by new materials, finishes, and the way good design can shape how we live.

From 2001 to 2009, I worked under renowned British interior designer Victoria Fairfax, managing and contributing to projects across Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, and as far afield as Bermuda and Montana. Key commissions included a four-year refurbishment of The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle, a complete fit-out of a private residence aboard The World, a custom lodge at Big Sky Resort in Montana, and numerous stately homes throughout England and Scotland.

With baby Isla on the way, my husband Craig and I returned to New Zealand in 2009, settling in Wellington. Craig opened Dunshea’s Deli in Khandallah, and over time Kerryn Dunshea Interior Design (KDID) was born.

Now we’re firmly entrenched in Wellington with our two daughters, Isla and Pearl (and far too many animals). It’s a full, lively life, and that grounded sense of home is something I bring into every project.

At KDID, I bring the experience I gained on large, often complex international projects into every home I work on — but always with a local, personal approach. From concept to completion, I focus on creating interiors that feel elegant, comfortable, and tailored to you. I care just as much about smart space planning and timelines as I do about texture, colour, and that perfect piece of joinery.

Most of all, I want the process to feel enjoyable and collaborative — I'll guide you with care, listen closely, and make sure the journey is just as rewarding as the finished result.
