This kitchen renovation is an exercise in careful planning and attention to detail. In this large home constructed with concrete floors and block walls, making major adjustments to plumbing and electrics was a considerable undertaking, but our design and construction teams pulled it off with gusto. We doubled the footprint - absolutely necessary for this large family, keen on cooking and entertaining, by absorbing an adjacent hallway, loo and storage room.
From a practical perspective, every inch of the space is utilised and everything has its place; spice drawers sized to suit our client’s glass jars, a corner drawer system, a built-in bread bin beneath the breakfast station and a fruit and vegetable store beneath that.
The versatile larder behind an oak and fluted glass door houses the immovable underfloor heating system and offers bulk storage and a home for lesser used appliances.
The style brief was for a classic European crafted kitchen in deep, rich tones. We selected natural materials that will only get better with age, resulting in a space that feels both elegant and very much the heart of the home.
